The Hmong people have a history of inter-generational persecution, poverty, and a lack of education. Hmong people carry complex-trauma into their cultural practices and family/relationship dynamics. This workshop will address those specific issues, as well as identify strengths in the Hmong community. Workshop participants will also learn culturally appropriate and effective treatment strategies for helping Hmong families in crisis.
Objectives:
- How mental health struggles are view/experience in the Hmong community.
- Strengths in the Hmong community in addressing mental health issues.
- Culturally appropriate and effective treatment strategies in helping Hmong families in crisis.
This summit has been approved for 1 Continuing Education Hour (CEHs) from the MN Board of Social Work. CEP #2248. A certificate will be presented upon completion of this course.
