This presentation will discuss the unique experience(s) of families formed through foster/ adoption, exploring how to advocate for what is needed for the specific and unique needs of families formed through adoption and kinship. The presentation will discuss frustrations and barriers present in the current system(s) and offer options to address those barriers. You will come away from this presentation with a deeper understanding and concrete tools/strategies that will support you in helping families formed through foster/adoption.
Objectives:
- Deeper understanding of the experiences/perspectives of foster/adopt parents when in crisis
- Deeper understanding of the mental health of foster/adopt children
- Support in developing treatment plans and strategies that support removing barriers common for our families formed through foster/adoption
