This presentation will provide an overview of substance and behavioral use disorders in teens, with a focus on current challenges and causes of crisis. We will explore how to prepare for and respond to teens in the moment of crisis using the principles of harm reduction. We will discuss how teens in crisis are similar and different from younger children in crisis situations.
Objectives:
Explore what a teen in crisis looks like. This includes exploring what the common causes of crisis are. Discuss how harm reduction can support young adults and teens with substance and behavioral abuse or mental health disorders, with a focus on moments of crisis. Identify actions that family and community members can take to support teens in crisis.
